Why, I only want digitals?

I understand why you think digitals is the way to go, I have them safe on my computer and I can print my photos anywhere, anytime, right?

Well yeah, I guess you can, but there are some things you should know.

Your photos essentially start in the camera, but there is so much that goes into photography that most people don’t know.

If you have ever gone to your local retailer and had a photo printed and it did not print how you thought, it would, or it wouldn’t fit in one of the standard sizes, colours were yucky? Well, there is a reason for that.

Most retail printers are not checked for colour correctness, nor are the printers adjusted depending on the paper they print on, there is only a few standard sizes to print 5 x7 or 8 x 10, but depends on your photographer and what they provide you as a digital will depend on what size you can print, I hear you say, so does it really matter?

I think so, as if I was going to spend money with a photographer to get professional photos done, I want to make sure when I print them, they are not only going to print like I expect them to but also, they are going to last without fading.

I use only professional print labs for my business and those that I use have their printers adjusted for colour and for the paper they print on, I also have to ensure that my colours match their printers and papers, yes it can get very technical, but that is part of the knowledge and experience a good professional photographer has.
