Photographic sessions focus on the stage your baby is in, typically held 7-9 months when your little one is sitting up unassisted but before they are walking!
It is great way to capture your baby’s growth and it’s a wonderful time at this age, you are able to capture their personalities, smiles and they interact in a way a newborn cannot.
Each month of infancy is fleeting and unique, but at 6 months you can enjoy your babe who, can smile, and laugh! They are likely sitting on their own, but aren’t crawling yet.
Let their little personalities shine through their smiles and expressions.
Oh and it’s a great time for a couple of updated family photos too!
Cake Smash Session
Your tiny baby is about to become a toddler and it's time to celebrate!
If you love the idea of a Cake Smash Session but not so much the cake, we can always substitute the cake for some fruit, or whatever else we can come up with!
These are seriously the most fun. I recommend booking these in advance.
My set ups are a bit simpler so that it places the focus on your baby, decorations are included which typically is a balloon garland in your choice of colours.
Whilst I can accommodate more elaborate set ups, buying specialty props can take some extra time for shipping so if you are considering a speciality themed session, these will need to be booked far in advance to allow for the props to arrive in time.
The best time to schedule a session is one month before their birthday. This ensures that you will receive the images in time for their actual birthday and it makes it a bit less likely that they will be able to make a mad-dash off the set every 30 seconds.
Afterwards there is splash time!
Not every baby likes cake from the get-go but every baby does love splash time! Not only will it get your baby clean enough for the car ride home but it is always a sure way to get giggles.
Families can choose to have a portrait session before the fun begins or you can just focus on your little one. Cake smash sessions last about one hour and the family portrait portion lasts up to 30 minutes.
I provide everything for cake smash (except the cake due to allergies), and splash time. In the studio there is a collection of props and décor. There is also a beautiful collection of dresses, and outfits.
TIP:
It is a good idea to do a trial run at home a few days before with a cupcake with frosting. Some kids have never had sweets before or have a hard time feeling dirty or messy. Giving them a chance to experience these sensations for the first time at home can make it easier on the day of the session.
Mum or Dad and Me
Many of us take photos with all our children together most of the time, but there is something really special having a one on one session with your child.
Whether you have babies, young children, teenagers or adult children, why not make it a fun session together, you could co-ordinate outfits, have a themed shoot!
It is session that will truely be cherished for years to come.
How many photos do you have of just you and your dad or mum or maybe a grandparent, don’t underestimate the importance of these types of photos!
