Maternity Session Guide

Maternity sessions are all about celebrating connection, anticipation, and the beautiful details that make your journey unique. This guide will help you feel prepared, relaxed, and excited for your session.

When to Book Your Session

The ideal time for a maternity session is between 30–36 weeks. At this stage, your bump is beautifully rounded, and most clients are still feeling comfortable enough to move and pose with ease.

That said, I understand every pregnancy is different. Earlier or later sessions can absolutely be accommodated, particularly in cases of ill health, high-risk pregnancies, or personal circumstances. Please don’t hesitate to chat with me about what timing feels best for you.

Studio or Outdoor Sessions

You can choose between:

  • Studio (indoor) sessions – timeless, intimate, and softly styled
  • Outdoor sessions – natural, relaxed, and full of movement and light

Each option offers a different feel, and I’m always happy to help you decide which suits your vision best.

Styling & Maternity Dresses

A curated selection of maternity dresses is included in your session. These are designed to flatter your bump and photograph beautifully.

Please note:

  • Some dresses are studio-only and not available for outdoor sessions due to fabric delicacy or length
  • I’ll guide you on suitable options based on your chosen location

You’re also welcome to bring your own outfits if you’d like to mix things up or add something personal.

Partners & Children

Your maternity journey doesn’t happen in isolation — partners and children are very welcome to be included in your session. Whether it’s quiet moments, playful interactions, or simple cuddles, these connections add so much meaning to your images.

If siblings are attending, I recommend bringing a small comfort item or snack to help keep things relaxed and enjoyable.

The Importance of Details

The most beautiful images often come down to the little things. Paying attention to details helps elevate your final gallery.

Some examples:

  • Neutral or complementary tones rather than busy patterns
  • Well-fitted undergarments to avoid visible lines
  • Clean, simple nails (hands are often featured)
  • Light makeup and softly styled hair that still feels like you
  • Coordinated outfits for partners and children (without being overly matchy)

Don’t worry — I’ll guide you throughout the session and make gentle adjustments as needed.

Packages & Investment

I offer a variety of maternity packages designed to suit different budgets and needs. Whether you’re after a small, simple session or a more comprehensive experience, there’s an option to match.

Full package details are available upon enquiry, and I’m always happy to help you choose what feels right.

A Final Note

My goal is for you to feel comfortable, confident, and truly seen during your session. You don’t need to know how to pose or worry about doing anything “right” — that’s my job.

If you have any questions at all before your session, please reach out. I can’t wait to create something beautiful for you ✨
